EARL O. DILLAHUNT, 84, of Springfield, died Monday evening, July 19, 2010 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born in Springfield on July 21, 1925 the son of the late Oliver L. and Blanche E. (Moore) Dillahunt.
He graduated from Plattsburg High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Latimer during WWII. Earl retired as head of communications from WPAFB after nearly 40 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked at the Ervin J. Nutter Center and Quality Farm & Fleet, Xenia. He was a life member of American Legion Post 0526, Fairborn.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle "Mickie" Cooper with whom he made his home, Jacqueline of Michigan, and Danielle Elkin of California; a son, Brian of Arizona; a sister, Dot Schaefer of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five nephews; and his beloved companion, Roxie.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Jayne and a brother, Harold.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
